Support and Humanitarian Projects in Pakistan
Our main charitable work is in Pakistan and Malawi. This is a result of having taken years to build up reliable teams that can sustain our projects and more importantly those who we can Trust. In Pakistan, it is DR Ijaz Bashir and in Malawi, it is Irfan Gatrad – nephew of Professor Gatrad.
In Pakistan, we have many projects that change people’s lives. Importantly MIAT works with alleviating disabilities such as Cleft lip and palate, club feet, Hearing problems and cataracts. If not treated these people – especially children end up on the streets begging. This leads to abuse and trafficking. We have also provided many hand pumps, a sewing skills centre and sanitary pads to young girls to encourage them to attend school.
We have many collaborators on these projects which cost thousands. We work with surgical teams travelling regularly from various countries – not only carrying out desperately needed operations but also teaching and training, In all this Prof Gatrad as a specialist for children takes the lead.
We have stepped up whenever there has been a natural disaster such as floods – in the 2022 floods MIAT built 100 huts for those desperate and displaced.
