Doctors of Rahman – Expert Medical Aid & Training in Crisis Zones
Doctors of Rahmah was founded by Dr. Yousufuddin Shaik, an orthopaedic surgeon, and Dr. Ismail Ughratdar, a consultant neurosurgeon, both of whom had extensive experience in highly specialised medical deployments in areas of humanitarian crises. Witnessing the urgent need for expert medical care in these challenging environments, they shared a vision: to create an organisation that would provide immediate medical relief and long-term healthcare solutions. Their mission was to deliver critical care in disaster-stricken regions and establish sustainable healthcare systems that could continue to serve communities long after the initial response efforts had ended.
Rapid Medical Deployment for Urgent Humanitarian Relief
With this goal in mind, Doctors of Rahman was built on two core pillars: rapid medical deployment and ongoing medical education and training. The organisation quickly became known for mobilising highly skilled medical professionals in areas in crisis and providing life-saving interventions where they were most needed. At the same time, recognising that true resilience comes from empowerment, the DoR prioritised training local healthcare workers and displaced medical students, equipping them with the skills to effectively contribute to their home nations’ healthcare systems. Through mentorship, structured training programs, and professional development opportunities, the organisation continues to strengthen both its immediate medical response efforts and its long-term healthcare capacity.
Empowering Communities Through Medical Training & Education
Recognising the value of collaboration, Dr. Rahman joined forces with the Midland International Aid Trust, an organisation with a well-established legacy and over 30 years of experience in humanitarian medical responses. With MIAT’s deep-rooted expertise and extensive network, alongside the leadership of its patron, Professor Gatrad, OBE, and the contributions of Mohammed Aslam, MBE, this partnership has created a powerful synergy. By combining MIAT’s wealth of experience with DoR’s focus on specialised medical deployments and training, both organisations have expanded their impact by reaching more communities and strengthening healthcare systems worldwide. Together, they continue to deliver urgent medical aid while fostering long-term resilience, ensuring that vulnerable communities receive not only immediate relief but also the tools to build sustainable healthcare for the future.
